Good Fishing, Bad Conditions

We are now saying are final good byes to steelhead season! Night bite walleye is now in full swing. Casting Husky Jerks in clown ,blue silver have both been pulling fish. Trolling 700 Reefs and Huskys along pier heads from Vermilion to Cleveland are also smashing large walleye. The day bite is also taking fish running Colorado harnesses and Huskys in the top 10 feet at 1.4-1.6mph. Sheffield Lake has been a early surprise producing fish 16-22 feet. Vermilion and Ruggles area has also been as good as any. Perch fishing has also been good bit with all the areas fishing conditions have been tough and looks like this week end will bring more of the same. Look for next week to be alot better.

Night Bite!

Night walleye is in full swing ,from Cleveland to Huron. Husky Jerks in clown and purple perch have been good. Leads of 10-25 at 1.2-1.5mph is best bet. The day bite is still going strong with hair jigs on the reefs and trolling deep Huskys and Reefs in the top 10 feet.
Perch fishing is starting to heat up from Lorain to the point in 34-42 foot of water. The bite is still spotty but once you find them its good size fish.
River fishing is still tuff with very little water, but with that said the lower rivers are holding good numbers of smallmouth and a few drop back steelhead. Rain could bring a few fresh fish and even more smallmouth.

Heating up!

With steelhead season all but gone, its time to move on to warm water species. Walleye is still going strong in the Western Basin. There are plenty of males left on the reef so jigging is a good bet. Blue/white and purple/char are still the best colors. Trollers are still doing best running Husky Jerks in Seyka Sour Apple Tiger ,Pink Clown and Clown are doing best. The fish seem to be favoring 25-35 back at 1.2-1.4 MPH. Reef Runners as well as harnesses are showing signs of life the last few trips. Ive also been surprised at the reports of Shoemakers Outdoors School already receiving good reviews from the guys who ran it.
Perch fishing has been good when the water is clean. 28-32 feet have been best from Lorain to Avon Point have had nice catches. Its been tuff with dirty water the last few days.
Crappie and pan fishing is firing up along the shoreline and in are marinas with plenty of action for a great day.

Steelhead fishing really needs a shot of rain. Low water is making fish spooky and numbers are dropping. A good rain should be all we need to get another good run.
Perch fishing is still going good as long as water stays clean. 38-42 feet from Lorain to Avon Point all have produced limits the last few weeks.

We started the day off with a with a empty cooler and a handful of Jt Custom Tackle Husky Jerks and 3 hours later 12 awesome walleyes. We headed out of Catawba and headed for C can, set lines at 20-25 back at 1.2mph. Pink lemonade, sour apple tiger and purple tiger were best. Trolling for these fish should remain good the next few weeks as spawning finishes up and these fish try to put weight back on.
