12/7/2012

Rain is falling and with warm temps good things are happening. Reports of fresh pushes of steelhead are being reported from tributary's from Vermilion to the New York border. Jigs and hardware are working great in the marina and launch areas. Spawn bags and egg patterns have been working in upper river. With week-end rains we can expect to see even more fish push up river.
Night walleye are still going strong ,Husky Jerks in Blue Glass and Blue Chrome have been this past weeks best.

Rivers are slowly rising and should continue to the next few days with up coming rain. We should see a fresh push and numbers increase. Look for the best bite to be in the warmest part of the day. Jigs , streamers as well as sacs will all be working.
Night walleye fishing has remained great. Husky Jerks and F18 Rapalas have been best. Congratulations to the Fall Brawl contestants and a awesome finish!

Cold Snap

Lake Erie walleye night bite has been at its best. The 2012 Fall Brawl leader stands at 14.5 caught by Bret Berkey. With weather rolling in only a few nights left to beat that monster. F18 and Husky Jerks trolled or casted along the shoreline have been best.
With rivers needing a lot more water steelheading can be ruff. With this cold snap look for fish in winter holes and tail outs. Fishing will be best in the warmest part of the day. Spawn ,jigs as well as flies will all take fish if you keep them moving slow and along the bottom.
Lets help someone catch they're first steelhead this Holiday season!

Night Bite/Steelhead

Today's rain will slow all but the creeks down the next few days. But as with most high water it will surly bring a run of fresh fish. Reports have been coming from high and low in the river systems. Spawn sacs, jigs as well as fly's have all been working. Fish large baits and large fly's until water clears again.
Perch fishing has remained slow since Sandy but guys running deep to clean water are reporting very large perch.
The walleye night bite is in full swing with boaters and pier fisherman both reporting good catches. Husky Jerks again this year seem to be working best, with glass clown and firetiger being top choice. Huron to Cleveland and everywhere in between reporting fish.

Steelhead Hurricane

The past weeks storms have brought high water and good pushes of fresh steel. Fish have been reported in the upper reaches of the rivers. Look for fish to be the most aggressive in the warmest part of the day. Spawn ,jigs, Trickem Beads as well as flies are all taking fish. With week end temperatures warming up we should see things even get better.
The lake has muddied so look for perch and walleye reports later in the week.
