Walleye Time!

Come see the release of a great new product Sunday at the shop! THE SCHOOL was created by Jonathan Shoemaker, a professional angler. THE SCHOOL was developed over several years and extensively tested on the Great Lakes. Jonathan fishes competitively on multiple national circuits, including the FLW Walleye Tour, Cabela's Masters Walleye Circuit, The Walmart FLW Series, and the FLW Walleye League.

Walleye fishing is still happening in the Western basin. Jiggers and trollers alike are taking limits. Hushy Jerk deeps about 30 back ,1.2mph , in pink lemonade, happy hooker ,clown are all working.Purple hair jigs and blue and white hair jigs are all still firing in 9-12 foot.
Good luck to all the LEWT teams this week-end.

Steelhead fishing is still going strong with Grand producing the best numbers of fresh run fish. Rain is well need on all other tributary's to get fresh runs in. Beads, sacs as well as many fly patterns all taking fish.

Pan fishing the harbors of Lake Erie is producing great Crappie and blue gill fishing. Waxes and jigs under a float has been best.

Perch fishing has been spotty pending water clarity. 32-42 feet has been best the last week. Lorain to Avon point all produced limits the last week.

March Walleye Trolling?

Rivers are high and muddy with river temps rising to 67 degrees during the day. Time to put away the steelhead gear until conditions change.
With limited time off I excepted a offer to spend the day on the water fishing for walleye. Tom Norton , former MLB pitcher was to join us ,so even if fishing was tuff the stories would be good. We new boat traffic would be heavy at first light so a late start was fine with us. Armed with info from Capt Mark from MyBonnie Charters and Frank from Y-Knot Charters we headed out from Catawba at a little after nine. Two miles later we set out Deep Huskys and 700 Reef Runners 30-35 back at 1-1.3mph. We chose a variety of colors ,clown, silver blue ,blue hawaiian ,easter egg ,all of them seem to have went off at one point during the day. Lake Erie treated us to word class fishing with fish well over 10 pounds. We averaged a fish every 10 minutes and everything over 6 pounds. March trolling is hard to believe so I would recommend anybody with a boat and the resource's to get out there. I'm very thankful to have spent my day off with great company and some great fishing.

Crazy Weather

High water is bringing in fresh pushes of fish. They are now spread threw out the entire river system. Large flys ,sacs as well as many other baits are working.
Perch fishing out of Lorain was great this week with limits of perch being caught just outside the lighthouse.
Walleye fishing outside the reef complex in the Davis Betzie area has been good. Purple Demon Pink Lemonaid, as well as many other Reef Runners are working well. Run baits 50 to 80 back at 1 mph is your best bet.

Getting Closer To Spring

With recent rains most Erie Tributary's are running high. Most will drop in and fish this weekend at some point. Fish are spread threw out the system with what appears to be fresh fish moving up stream every day. Spawn, jigs as well as flys will all work if presented properly. With these cold nights look for fish in tail outs, winter holes with fish only moving into fast water in the warmest part of the afternoon.
Looking forward spending the Sunday with Gary and Nicholas Zart Sunday to answer all you're walleye questions. If the Lake Erie clears the walleye trolling in the Island areas should remain great with great catches reported. Have a great weekend.
